Our Oldest Granddaughter is Twelve!

Regan turned 12 on August 20th! How can that possibly be? We remember her birth like it was yesterday...sitting and waiting, and waiting, and waiting in the Logan Hospital for this precious little girl to be born! There are no words to appropriately describe the joy Greg and I felt as we held this first little grandchild in our arms...and yes, we did allow the parents to hold her first! They brought her from the hospital home here where Cindy and DJ lived with us for 9 months while DJ worked on and received his Master's Degree. We grew so attached to all three of them, but when it came time for them to leave, Greg and I very literally sobbed on each others' shoulders after they left. We missed that little adorable girl so much! What a blessing it was to have them here with us during that period of time. We will always treasure what an opportunity it was for us to share in her first months of life. Cindy and DJ were so helpful around the house and made it so easy to have them. We missed them when they left, but I'm sure they were so glad to leave the basement and move into an apartment of their own!

Anyway, returning to Regan's 12th birthday party, it was a great time as usual! Cindy made delicious foil dinners with all the vegetables from their garden and then cooked them on the grill! Oh, they were good and such easy clean-up on a hot day! Regan had made and decorated her own birthday cake which was adorable! We gave her a book called "Why?" answering all the questions teenagers (and even adults) have about specific church policies such as no tattooing, no dating til 16, etc. etc. I think they have really enjoyed it...Regan says her Dad "hogs" it, however, so come on, DJ, let it loose, okay? haha. Seriously, thanks for using it so much and just helping the kids to understand there are always valid reasons for the things our Prophet asks us to do or not to do! If we obey, we'll be happy...pretty simple!

Look at that cake! Pretty great for a 12-yr-old!

Love our Reggy Sue! I remember thinking they were going to name her Rebecca. I like Regan and it fits her so well!

Happy Birthday, Regs!

I had forgotten that we'd thought about naming her Rebecca. See, you do have a great memory. Mom, I love this post although I was a little sad picturing you and dad crying on one another's shoulder's after we left with Regan. You guys are the best! Love you
