Henderson Block Party 2008

Can I tell you all how much we love living on Henderson Drive? We have so many great neighbors and friends in this area. We have seen so many go out of their way to help and care for those in need. We have had a block picnic party for the last several years and it has always been a great opportunity to come together to visit and enjoy each other's company. The summer got away from us last year and we didn't have it...(it seems not to happen if we don't take the "bull by the horns" and get the ball rolling). Several people said they missed it, however, and hoped we would do it again. So September 11th, we met at the home of the Hames family who recently moved into the neighborhood. They bought the home where we have held the party for the last few years, and offered to have it there this year. Bless their hearts! They are a great young couple. It was a nice way to spend 9/11. That is always a reflective and somber day as we remember the tragedy of the terrorist attack at the Twin Towers. It is hard to believe that has now been 7 years ago! The love we feel in our neighborhood for one another is in stark contrast to the hatred and jealousy that precipitated that attack...but also a warm reminder of the way our country came together as a result.
