Who'd Have Thunk It?

"Then, using his very best Spanish accent, he said, "My ears are too beeg for my head. My head ees too beeg for my body. I am not a Siamese cat....I AM A CHIHUAHUA!"

I think Ryan loves strawberries and whipped cream...what do you think?

It has become tradition that my Sunday School class kids come to a couple of parties a year at our home. My personal favorite is the Saturday morning breakfast parties...french toast or pancakes (and all the trimmings), scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit and juice with games after. That was the plan for yesterday morning...breakfast and outdoor games on a beautiful and I mean BEAUTIFUL Saturday morning! Well, while the kids were waiting for me to put the final touches on breakfast, some of them noticed our stash of grandkids books in the living room and started to read them! You know, the Skippyjon Jones stories, and Diary of a Worm and Diary of a Spider! Before long, they were engrossed in them! I had to drag them away for breakfast, believe it or not! After eating until they were all ready to pop, I started to herd them outside for games, but oh, no! "Sister Rose, we love these books! Can we read them? " So, they read them and then asked me to read them out loud, ("gotta show us the pictures, though!" Okay?) So they sat around me or on the floor and I read all the books to them! My Spanish accent for Skippyjon is certainly not what Greg's is, so he finally consented to reading it as only he can do! It was great! I never realized how totally entertaining these books are for young and old alike! These kids didn't miss a picture or caption and laughed over everything! They were old enough to get all the subtle humor! Well, long story short, before we knew it, it was time for me to take them home. Were they disappointed they didn't get to play baseball? NOT AT ALL! They just kept thanking me and saying how much fun they had. Who'd Have Thunk it? Several of these kids will be moving on to the next class in January and I will miss them. They are such great young people. I am so proud of every one of them. They know the gospel, but best of all, they live it and love it! I have the best calling in the church! Thanks kids for making each Sunday such a pleasure. I love each one of you!

Great Tradition Wend!!!
I bet you are a wonderful teacher. And quite frankly, most childrens books are funnier for adults than kids. HAHA!!!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. I am excited to do a better job keeping up with everyone through blogging.

It sounds like life is going well for you - and you certainly deserve it. I will always remember how safe, secure and loved I felt in your home. Next time we come home for a visit I will have to bring the kids over to meet you!

I love you both!
Rachel
